Ultimately, building on point (a), Linux does not need much hardware resources to run. Meaning, you can run on legacy hardware. Outdated CPUs, a low amount of RAM, not much disk space. All of this wouldn't matter in Linux. That said, your performance will be affected, but if you just want to run Linux, then it's possible.
