To play Cookie Clicker, you need to:
• Click on the giant cookie to produce cookies.
• Use the collected cookies to buy upgrades that increase your cookie production and efficiency.
• Buy a lot of Grandmas and Cursors, as they have many upgrades that boost their performance and other buildings.
• Avoid the Farms, as they are not very efficient and have some negative effects later in the game.
• Work toward getting higher buildings like Shipments, Portals, Time Machines, etc. that produce more cookies per second (CPS).
• Ascend when you have enough heavenly chips to unlock new features and bonuses.
