    Histop, a drug used to treat allergies, is available in several other trade names: Allerfin, Anaallerge, Chlorohistol, Histant, Pheniram, Pirafene, Chlorpheniramine, Gripine, Polaramin.

    Active ingredient and mechanism of action:
    The scientific name or the active substance of Histop is “Chlorpheniramine”, and it is one of the first generation antihistamines, as it works to prevent the body’s reaction to substances that cause allergies, thus nullifying the allergic reaction and relieving the symptoms of allergy.

    How to use :
    The medicine is available in the form of tablets, solution, and syrup.
    For children from 2-6 years of age, a dose of 1 mg is given every 4-6 hours, provided that the daily dose does not exceed 6 mg.
    For children aged 6-12 years, a dose of 2 mg is given every four to six hours, provided that the dose per day does not exceed 6 mg.



    For children over 12 years of age and adults, a dose of 4 mg is given every four to six hours, provided that the dose per day does not exceed 24 mg, or a dose of 8-12 mg every 8-12 hours.
    In the case of intramuscular, intravenous or subcutaneous injection, the adult dose is 10-12 mg, and the maximum dose is 40 mg per day.



    For the elderly, the dose is 4 mg once or twice a day.



    Contraindications to use:
    The drug is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to chlorpheniramine or any of its components.
    - It is forbidden to use the drug for patients with chest allergies or asthma.
    It is forbidden to use the drug for patients with glaucoma.
    The drug is contraindicated for women who are breast-feeding.
    The drug is contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcer, intestinal obstruction, or urinary tract obstruction.
    The drug is contraindicated in patients with an enlarged prostate.
